Welcome from chairs
- The Programme Board Chair welcomed members to the meeting and thanked them for making the journey to Aberystwyth
- The Chair conveyed apologies from Nick Collinson and advised the Chief Veterinary Officer (CVO) for Wales would be arriving later
Godfray Review discussion and wildlife advice
- Due to the timing of the publication of the Godfray Review, the paper on Wildlife will be presented to the Programme Board in advance of their December meeting.
- The Chair of TAG provided a general overview of the Godfray Review and gave context of the sections on Wildlife within the paper.
Programme Board Position Paper
- Position Paper agreed to be published before political parties publish their manifestos ahead of May 2026 elections. However, high level holistic commitments can be made now, don’t need complete in-depth detailed paper to start discussion of priorities.
- Position Paper will benefit from a one-page summary at the front of the document.
Out of herd ear tag testing presentation
- Welsh Government Veterinary Advisor gave a presentation on Gamma and Idexx testing.
- This presentation covered recent evidence from the analysis of data, the acknowledgment of the need to accelerate the rate of progress, and how best to manage the removal of animals from their herd.
Breakout rooms
- The Programme Board met in a separate breakout room to discuss their Position Paper
- The TAG met in their room to discuss the topic of Testing and Movements.
Resolved IR Comms
- A Welsh Government official gave an update on communications surrounding Resolved IRs.
- An official announcement on the new Resolved IR policy will be made before the end of October
TB Hub Comms
- A brief discussion was held around the use of the TBhub (tbhub.co.uk) in Wales. It was noted that a Welsh language translation would be required.
AOB
- The next TAG meeting will be held on 16th October in Llandudno Junction
- The next Programme Board meeting will be held on December 4th in APHA Carmarthen (SA31 2NF).
